The Board of Trustees approved this group as a committee in October of 2022 and approved the charter at the October 27, 2022 Board Meeting.

History: Widening the Circle of Concern is a Report of the UUA Commission on Institutional Change June 2020. The Commission was charge with addressing equity, diversity, and multiculturalism at both the individual and systemic level of Unitarian Universalism. At 2020 General Assembly, five QUUFers participated in workshops to learn how QUUF could benefit from the Report. Diane Haas took the lead and assembled a Study Group that began meeting in November 2020.

The Study Group then approached the Board in March 2021 writing, “The time is right for UUs to respond to the national call for racial justice and ending systemic racism. In addition, we feel the Report offers an excellent outline of many ways we can put our QUUF Mission Statement into action.

“We come together to seek our truths,
honor our diversity,
serve with love,
and work for justice in our world.”
