PILLARS FOR PARENTS is a support group for QUUF Members and Friends with adult children whose lives have been seriously disrupted by mental illness and/or drug and alcohol addictions, and also those who as a result may have entered the criminal justice system. We share our stories in strict confidence and offer support to one another. We each bring a different, but very often similar, perspective of parenthood. We each have an abundance of strength and knowledge to share, resulting in heartfelt, meaningful and growing bonds between us. Our current meeting time is the third Monday of the month from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the Den at QUUF. For more information, contact Phyllis Waldenberg (360-437-9733).
PLAY THE RECORDER meets weekly on Thursdays, 1:30-3:30 pm. All players are invited to join in the rehearsals, and novices can also get some lessons and advice on instruments and music. Currently there are about 12 players at various ability levels. Contact Galen Clark, 970-210-1804.
SCIENCE READING GROUP meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month; 4:00-5:30pm. The group discusses current science books and scientific papers selected by the group. Facilitated by Rod Mitchell and Jim Oakland. Contact Rod Mitchell, 360-385-3277.
SINGLE MOMS SUPPORT GROUP meets 2nd and 4th Wednesdays; 5:30-7pm. This is an informal group of mostly QUUF moms but is open to the community. Childcare is available. More more information, contact Julie Plachta (541-639-6708) or Kathy Stevenson (360-379-0609).
THEATRE CIRCLE meets on the 2nd Monday of the month, 1:00-3:30 pm. This is a group for theatre activities including play readings, performance field trips, presentations focusing on theatre history, playwrights and theatre crafts. Each “season” culminates in a staged reading of a play in a coffeehouse setting. Contact David Hundhausen, 360-379-2566.
