Persistent, Emergent Love: An MLK Day Reflection

In this time that is so permeated by the forces of dehumanization and othering, what does it mean to live into the spiritual truths proclaimed by our Unitarian Universalist faith? How might we experience hope, when, as the song says, “hope is hard to find?” Our love for humanity and for all the complex life forms on this earth is so strong, and we are so deeply interconnected, of course we are afraid. But even in the most perilous of times, love persists. It can hold us and lead us onward.

Biography: Rev. Sarah Gibb Millspaugh is QUUF’s primary contact on the UUA Pacific Western Regional Staff. Having celebrated her 20th anniversary of ordination last year, Sarah has served as a parish minister, a curriculum author/developer (Coming of Age and Our Whole Lives), and as UUA regional staff. She is a lifelong UU who grew up in the Midwest and Mountain West, and has spent her adulthood in New England and California. Since 2016 she has lived in San Diego with her sweet family and goofy dog.
