Disappeared in America

Some of us are deeply engaged emotionally or physically in the resistance that is happening in our country now, in response to the loss of democracy, and the demonization of immigrants, LTBTQ people, and others. Many more are frustrated and sad that our institutions seem to be falling apart. But often, living in our Jefferson County bubble, the injustices we hear about may seem far away. Today we’ll look at how what’s happening nationally affects immigrants locally.

Note: This talk is part of an interfaith sermon series called “Prayer and Awareness” taking place in a number of local congregations in July, sponsored by the Jefferson Interfaith Action Coalition in response to the attacks on our common values of compassion, justice and community. and how that is affecting immigration policies and practices.
