From the Interim

From the Minister

Here’s a three-part blog, friends.

Part 1:

Earlier this week I joined the interfaith group planning a protest vigil for later in May. The goal is to “make witness” – to represent our individual congregations, but more importantly, to show the Port Townsend area that unity is the antidote to isolation. To remind all of us that this government is not us.

I was proud to represent you (full disclosure, there were two other UUs at the table) because silence is not an option right now. Too much is at stake.

So here’s to all the work being done at tables just like that one. Here’s to the privilege of being one more voice at QUUF.

Part 2:

Elsewhere in today’s Weekly Update is a last call for the leadership assembly tomorrow morning (9:30 at the fellowship). Even if you’re not currently or aspiring to be a QUUF leader, this will be a chance to learn about the always evolving field of leadership in general. And watch two wonderful videos on the subject.

Part 3:

I rarely plug programs I’ve started, but the “Speak Easy” open mic is an exception. It’s a wonderful, substance-free couple of hours with local comedians, poets and musicians come to share their talents with us. No competition, just a meeting of minds and hearts.

We’re asking for any donation or none at all. Same with canned items for area agencies serving our hungry siblings in these parts.

We begin at 7:00 each third Friday of the month, and signups start at 6:30. Come check us out!
