Jamal reflects on Quranic verses that have inspired the poetry of Rumi and Hafiz, and given birth to the humorous teaching stories of the Mulla.
Imam Jamal Rahman, who was with us on February 12 as part of the Pacific Northwest Interfaith Amigos, returns to Port Townsend and QUUF for an all-day workshop on Saturday, April 1, titled “Islam & Islamaphobia”, and as our guest speaker on Sunday, April 2. Imam Rahman, originally from Bangladesh, is the co-founder and Muslim Sufi Minister at Interfaith Community Sanctuary and adjunct faculty at Seattle University. A graduate of the University of Oregon and the University of California, Berkeley, he teaches classes, workshops and retreats locally, nationally and internationally. His books include Sacred Laughter of the Sufis, The Fragrance of Faith: The Enlightened Heart of Islam; and Out of Darkness into Light: Spiritual Guidance in the Qur’an with Reflections from Jewish and Christian Sources.
