Welcoming Congregation Committee

(Note: as of 8/02, this committee had disbanded. Members with interest in re-forming the Welcoming Congregation committee are encouraged to do so.)

Purpose: Generally, the purpose of this committee it to raise awareness of the congregation's membership to the importance, and gift, of diversity. Specifically, the purpose is to create a welcoming climate for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities at QUUF.

Membership: The committee shall consist of a chairperson appointed in a manner consistent with Bylaws Articles VII, Section 1(a) and Article VIII, Section 1(b).

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement worship services.

  2. Bring in special speakers or programs.

  3. Put on the Welcoming Congregation workshop series open to the entire congregation.

  4. Build bridges between the fellowship and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.

  5. Come up with new ideas to advance the committee's purpose and implement them.

  6. Find new funding sources for programs, training, books, videos and other resources that would enhance the committee's efforts to make QUUF more diverse and welcoming.
