Social Action and Education Committee

Purpose: To express the mission of the fellowship in serving our larger community and our world. To inform and educate the fellowship and public in areas of social concern; to find ways and means to rectify social injustices; to sponsor and support groups organized to deal with social problems.

Membership: The committee shall consist of a chairperson appointed in a manner consistent with Bylaws Articles VII, Section 1(a) and Article VIII, Section 1(b).

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a budget to allocate the financial resources of the committee.

  2. Solicit congregational approval for the use of these resources.

  3. Provide opportunities for members and friends to participate in social service projects.

  4. Arrange educational programs (workshops, forums, discussion series) on topics of social relevance.

  5. Support the training of members in organizational and social change skills.

  6. Make available to the congregation the resources of UUA social change programs. Develop appropriate contact with these programs.

  7. Create alliances with community organizations involved with social justice issues.
