Stewardship Committee

Purpose: To provide members with the opportunity to contribute financially so that the goals of the congregation may be realized. This committee plays a crucial role in the life of the congregation, and should function throughout the year.

Membership: The committee shall consist of a chairperson appointed in a manner consistent with Bylaws Articles VII, Section 1(a) and Article VIII, Section 1(b).

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the retiring Stewardship Committee to evaluate the process and the realization of financial goals.
  • Develop a calendar for stewardship activities in the current year.
  • Develop stewardship materials for the current year.
  • Set stewardship goals for the current year in collaboration with the Finance Committee.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a canvassing team.
  • Plan and conduct stewardship gatherings including the annual dinner, and post-stewardship celebrations.
  • Communicate effectively with the congregation regarding the goals for the coming year and the resources needed to attain those goals.
  • Conduct the annual stewardship campaign.
  • Develop a procedure for canvassing new members throughout the year.
