Kitchen Care Committee

Purpose: To promote enjoyment of all events involving kitchen use. To promote a clean, uncluttered, healthy and eco-friendly environment for food and drink preparation.

Membership: The committee shall consist of a chairperson appointed in a manner consistent with Bylaws Articles VII, Section 1(a) and Article VIII, Section 1(b).

Responsibilities:

  • Build a volunteer team for kitchen responsibilities. 
  • Develop and implement systems for leaving the kitchen in perfect condition after each use. 
  • Clean and clear the refrigerator, stove and shelves on a regular schedule and take stock of all kitchen materials.
  • Understand the operation of appliances and provide written instructions for their use.
  • Coordinate supply purchases with Office Administrator and discourage unsolicited donations.
  • Cooperate with Building and Grounds Committee in collection of recycling materials, trash and garbage; with the Green Sanctuary Committee in composting, and with the custodian in kitchen care.
  • Encourage all users to follow the Green Kitchen Guidelines.
  • Provide volunteer launderers for linens.
  • Schedule Sunday Beverage Service (Coffee Hour).
  • Periodically inform members of items left in the kitchen and deliver unclaimed items to the Free Store.
