Childcare

Caring for our babies and toddlers is very important to us. Sunday mornings our wonderful high school youth supervise the playroom. Our RE staff are available for special needs.

All QUUF adult events offer childcare. Offering childcare at all events is an important part of our ministry to families. Speak to the leader of the event to sign up. There is no charge. At family events parents are responsible for their children.

Guidelines to Committees for Hiring Childcare Providers for Church Events

Providing childcare for church committee meetings and events is one of our statements of inclusion.  We want families to feel welcome and accommodated.  When building your committee budgets in the spring, estimate your childcare needs and include on a separate line on your budget request. We pay $5 - $8/hour depending on their age and experience working with us.

Steps in securing childcare providers:

  1. Determine date and times you will need someone.
  2. Contact Kathy for a current list of interested youth.
  3. Call until you find one who can work for you. Leave a contact name and number with youth in case something changes for them.
  4. Sign up for RE Room 5 through the QUUF office.
  5. Give a reminder call the day before the event.
  6. In winter months, put heat on in room 5 at least 20 minutes before children come, and keep the door closed to warm it up. Remember to turn it down later.  Also close and lock windows.
  7. If you are using someone not on the list, be sure they are oriented to the building and have proper forms completed. See Kathy for these forms.
  8. Let them know if going outside is okay. (check with parents.)
  9. When done, remind them to pick up the toys and leave the room tidy. Vacuum is kept in the restroom. QUUF leader should do final check for room tidiness.
  10. Let them know you will contact me to record hours worked in order for a check to be sent.
  11. Report to me, by the 25th of the month, who worked and how many hours.
  12. Let me know if there were any problems.
  13. The general rule is one teen for up to 3 kids, depending on ages and comfort. Babies and toddlers need more.
  14. If no children come, we still pay for one hour of the provider's time.
