Habitat for Humanity is a Special Interest Group under the Social Justice Council.

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is an interfaith organization whose mission is to bring “people together to build homes, communities and hope.” People of all faiths work side-by-side with future homeowners to build houses that have average mortgages of $600-700/month. That is huge in our area where there is a severe lack of affordable housing. HFH is committed to treating people with dignity and respect, which correlates with our UU principles. Our action group participates in the Interfaith Relations Council along with members of various faith communities, to discuss what HFH is doing and how we can help. Together we have “faith builds” once or twice each year; we provide meals and/or treats for worksite volunteers, and we help to disseminate information about home ownership and volunteer needs.
